Many patients scheduled for ICL surgery regularly use over-the-counter (OTC) eye drops or prescription drops from eye clinics.
We frequently receive questions such as, “Can I use OTC eye drops before ICL surgery?” or “Is it safe to use them after the surgery?” This column aims to address those concerns.
【Use of OTC Eye Drops Before ICL Surgery】
There is no issue with using OTC or prescribed eye drops before ICL surgery.
From three days prior to the surgery, antibiotic drops will be prescribed for infection prevention, but these can be used in conjunction with your usual drops without any problem.
【Use of OTC Eye Drops After ICL Surgery】
Generally, we ask patients to refrain from using OTC or prescription eye drops for one month following surgery.
After one month, it is typically safe to resume using them.
