【Column】 Pre- and post-operative eye drops for ICL

We are often asked, “What kind of eye drops should be used and for how long before and after ICL surgery?” Here is our clinic’s protocol.

【Preoperative Eye Drops】
To prevent infection, antibiotic eye drops are used four times daily starting three days before surgery.

【Postoperative Eye Drops】
To prevent infection and control inflammation, please follow the post-operative drop schedule below.
<the surgery day~the second day>
・Antibiotic: every 2 hours
・Steroid: every 2 hours (until next-day’s examination)
・Anti-inflammatory: every 2 hours

<second day~one week>
・Antibiotic: four times a day
・Steroid: four times a day (until next-day’s examination)
・Anti-inflammatory: four times a day

<one week~one month>
・Antibiotic: four times a week
・Steroid: four times a week
・Anti-inflammatory: four times a week

<After 1 month >※(until the eye drops provided at the one-month checkup are finished)
Antibiotic: 3 times a day
Anti-inflammatory: 3 times a day

Proper eye drop usage before and after surgery is essential to prevent infection and reduce inflammation. Please follow the prescribed schedule carefully.
